Don’t STUMP Your Height!

According to the Journal of Adolescent Health (April 2013), young smokers from 11-19 years of age risk optimal bone growth. Some of us have heard it from Mom, “Stop smoking or you’ll stop growing”. We thought that was just an old wives' tale, yet depression and anxiety can also be triggered from early smoking. So, you may not feel it or see it now, but it could affect smoking women as early as in their adolescent years on through to post menopause. Osteoporosis, the breaking down of bone mass is one of the major problems of older women, so “déjà de fumar – Stop smoking!"

Some of the pioneers in the field of nutrition have left us with a great legacy. If only we were to use it today! Fortunately, many people have followed in their footsteps. When excellent nutrition interests you, check out what Dr. Shaklee did to give us natural supplements. TAKE YOUR MEDS!

One of the major problems with people who are ill is the fact that they don’t comply with the doctor’s orders of taking their medications. Today the management of health records has made great strides with the use of computer programs that link doctors, hospitals and clinics to keep the history of a patient in one file. This helps to learn the health history of the patient to avoid problems in diagnoses and treatment.

Some of us have visited several gynecologists for instance and we don’t take our records with us when we visit a new doctor, therefore doctors don’t have the history, which leads them to start from the beginning; taking blood tests that you’ve already had and not seeing any progress in your health until you’ve had a few appointments. Avoid waste and go prepared with your health history.

HEALTH DIARY

A great way to keep track of progress you are making with your health is to start a diary of your health records. Write down all the problems you have had and are having currently. Try to put a date on it. Create a history of your medical appointments and what were the results of those appointments. Carry the notebook with you when you visit your doctor. You’ll find that it will be easier to explain your health issues and easier because you can just read it off instead of trying to remember.

You may not be in pain that day so you may forget all about that particular problem until you’re far from the doctor’s office. Don’t depend on your memory. Beside, if you write it down and bring your notebook you can write the results in and date it. The notebook will have all in the information you need if an emergency comes up and you can’t speak for yourself.
